"The far wall of the cavern was covered with a structure composed of hexagonal units, one neatly fitting into the other like the cells in a beehive. The surface of each cell was covered with a thin membrane, heavily coated with frost. Visible inside each cell was the hunched, silver figure of a Cyberman, slowly uncurling from an embryonic posture and stretching. At last the most advanced one, now in a sitting position, raised his steel fist and struck sideways at the plastic membrane. Another blow from his fist, and the membrane was in shreds like a split drum. The Cyberman rose up and pushed his way out of the cell and stood upright in front of the honeycomb.
One by one the other silver giants broke out of their centuries-old cells and climbed down to stand beside their companion." - from Doctor Who and the Tomb of the Cybermen, novelised by Gerry Davis.

So, the BFI had a special screening of Tomb of the Cybermen today as part of Doctor's Who's year-long anniversary celebrations, and seeing as I couldn't be there, I thought I'd join in the fun in a different way.
I also wanted to do some work featuring the new design for the Cybermen (which I really like). Anybody tempted to cry "heresy" for replacing the cyber-models in this iconic scene (and I wouldn't blame you), I'd just like to defend myself by saying that my piece depicts A Cyber-Tomb, not necessarily THE titular 1967 Cyber-Tomb ;)

well, i've just recently read the novelisation, but haven't really watched the tv show... -_- (can't find a copy)
i'd say the cybermen's elaborate plan using human's curiosity was really brilliant.
but i just had to comment to say this is work is awesome!

Thank you very much :)
The TV Show is really good (it's been released twice on DVD, once as part of a box-set, which may explain why you haven't been able to find a copy).
Of course, it's 1960s TV, so allowances have to be made in one or two cosmetic areas, but it is definitely worth a watch. Quintessential classic Who :D

actually, me being unable to find a copy is really more on where i live. -_- its tough being on this part of the globe when it comes to anything Doctor Who-related [philippines]. no merch, books, dvds,.. nothing. O:
but i'll find a way online... i hope :XD:
oh, and i just finished reading Wheel in Space. its amazing how just 2 cybermen and some cybermats managed to infiltrate the Wheel.. anyway
haha, i can only read the ebooks. :meow:

Oh, I see. Well at least you can find it on the webs :D
I like the Target Books range very much (it's why I base some of my work on how they describe things), and sometimes the books are actually better than the TV counter parts :D
The Wheel in Space is a really rare novelisation. I'd take good care of that ;) :D

not all actually. the tv shows are particularly harder to find, since.. they're old and.. [US govt taking down file sharing sites/file sharing sites taking down illegal material]
so yeah.. i've been reading the Target novelisations instead. [ebooks i find online hehe]
they're really great! i've yet to compare them with their tv counterparts. i'm excited :D
i've just finished The Tenth Planet and The Moonbase [the cybermen (book)].
for some reason, i've only been reading cybermen novelisations. i dunno why.. haha :D
